A brief history of Niagara Telephone Company.
1941
Raymond Peterson of Wittenberg, WI and his brother
Lester Peterson of Rosholt, WI purchase all of the Wisconsin
telephone properties from Michigan Bell.
1956
A central switching office, which is still utilized
today, was constructed.
1956
First dial conversion was established at the
Aurora exchange.
1960
Exchange established in Spread Eagle.
1968
Niagara Telephone Company purchased the former
Gamble Store building, which became the office.
1971
Sydney Peterson, Raymond's son became manager
and served in that capacity until his death on February 11,
2007.
1983
The former Lester Perkins home and gas station
was acquired.
1989
A new building was constructed on these
three properties.
